Jeremy Fokkens is portrait and advertising photographer based in Calgary, Alberta. Fokkens has won many local and international awards, exhibited his work across Canada including a solo show at the Whyte museum, has visited 60+ countries to date, and is known for his story telling ability having his first book “The Human Connection” published by Rocky Mountain Books in 2014. Fokkens newest venture is a project titled “Back To The Land” . It is a cross-Canada project that started in 2014 with a goal to photograph people from small towns and remote areas from Canada’s ten provinces and three territories. It features those salt of the earth individuals from the towns most have never heard of or visited. I want to tell the stories of your everyday Canadians; potters, cowboys, beekeepers, trappers, transients, first nations, immigrants, store owners, anglers, farriers, artists, surfers; your everyday Canadians. We all have a story and I hope to shed a little light on these unsung heroes.
